Reflecting on Thankful Thoughts from the Audio Visual Industry

Thankful

As we come closer to Thanksgiving 2019, take a walk down memory lane to read last year’s #AVTweeps Thankful Thoughts:

“I’m thankful there are so many people in this industry who have taught me so much about the products and projects in the past 8 years, especially since I came into it literally knowing nothing about what they do or how they do it. I’d like to think I’ve learned quite a bit, thanks to some truly exceptional people who have helped me come to share their passion for creating experiences and building solutions most people never thought were possible. I’m also thankful 3D TVs never really caught on. They were the ‘next big thing’ when I started writing for CI and I never understood the appeal.”

– Craig MacCormack, Editor-at-Large at Commercial Integrator

“I’m #thankful for almost 20 years in an industry where nothing is boring and everything is always fun! I’m thankful for all the people that have been on this journey throughout the years. My career would be nowhere without my #avhomies, #avtweeps, and #myAVtribe”

– Victoria Ferrari, Senior Account Executive at Netrix, LLC

“I’m thankful for the opportunities I’ve had in the AV Industry. I’m thankful for the lifelong friendships I’ve made through our industry. I’m thankful for all I’ve been able to learn by being in the AV Industry. I’m thankful for attending that NAB show in Vegas where I met the man of my dreams…. “Mr. Tim Schaeffer” – I’m thankful for all the AVIXA Women I’ve met and been inspired by!”

– Cory Schaeffer, Director, Strategic Industry Relations at QSC

“We are thankful for a staff that is like family. They always go above and beyond for our organization.”

Jeremy Caldera, CEO at IAS Technology

“I am thankful for friends, the ability to travel, and pugs!”

Ryan Smith, Member Services Program Coordinator at AVIXA

“I’m grateful for the rain… without it we wouldn’t get rainbows, the rhythmic sounds of raindrops, the earthy smell afterwards, and how it refreshes everything.”

– Brandy Alvarado, Marketing & Business Development Manager rp Visual Solutions

“This year I am thankful for new opportunities, supportive relationships and, most of all, my son’s success and my family’s togetherness. Nothing is more important to me than those people who you just can’t push away no matter how hard you (stupidly) try- those who stand next to you, knowing you will need them, even though your psyche tells you that you HAVE TO handle your own burdens alone. Because, your psyche is just plain wrong.”

– Gina Sansivero, VP of Marketing and Corporate Communications at AtlasIED

“I’m especially thankful for how amazing the AV Industry is in coming together to support all of the Women in AV. The hi-tech world is only starting to understand what our industry has long-led by its example — the value of recognizing, respecting, mentoring, and advocating for the incredible work and contributions females make in male-dominated STEM industries. I often think of how lucky and proud I feel to be part of a technology community that truly cares as much about creating killer AV/IT systems and solutions as it does in making everyone feel welcomed, important, and included in what it means to be a professional in the AV Industry.”

Jennifer H. Willard, Women in AV (WAVE)

Kelly P. Perkins, Education Foundation Program Director at NSCA

“For the Kindness of strangers. For the moment given freely by so many to stop and help another if only direction down the road.

For Kindness of Peers. Always amazed at the willingness of competitors in their sharing of success stories and especially those cautionary warning from mistakes they have made.

For the wisdom and time afforded me from my Industry Mentors. Just this week I made an emergency call to one of the best that I trust the most, late at night, call taken, advice offered, My whining stopped

For the Hugs, Greets and Handshakes from my Industry Social Network #AVTweeps. Just this past week I was on the receiving end of an embracing hug from a fellow tweeter, meeting for the first time in a couple of years. #Tweetup

For the Laughter, the Stories, Creative ideas shared, and the Strong Community and Social Engagement. #AVTweeps #AVNation #AVintheAM @road_av

For Giving me a voice @SCN @commintegrator, For every Industry Magazine, Editors and Contributors for keeping us informed on the fast-paced changes in our technology. #pricelesscontribution

For the Industry Associations @NSCA @AVIXA @Comptia for challenging us to better serve our clients. We would be spinning tops without your insights and guidance. That and you put on some Wonderful Networking Conferences.

For those late night tweets received “Hey Greene you awake?” I got an idea I want to run by you. Endless Appreciation for that request.

For my Competitors, for making sure I am always striving to reach greater heights and services. To be reminded that there are very talented people in our Industry and learning to be humble and amazed at the same time on their success. To quietly say to yourself Damn that was a good idea.

For @WomeninAV, @AVIXAWomen @WomenofDS @NSCA_Ignite @CompTIA_AWIT for growing our futures, creating leadership and sponsoring diversity in our Industry. For opening the eyes of possibility of Tech Careers in the lives of Women and Students.

For our Manufacturers, don’t know how you do it but some of the most amazing solutions are created and supported, providing real world solutions to client’s communication need. Lost without you

For our clients, for the question Hey you got a Guy… Yes yes we do!”

– John Greene, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at New Era Technology

”I’m thankful for a front row seat to the continued evolution of our industry – from tech to diversity to AV as an integral part of workplace strategy. It’s been an amazing ride so far!”

– Theresa Hahn, Vice President, Marketing & Business Development at Varrex

“I am thankful for my move to San Diego. Not only was this opportunity possible because of the flexible work-mostly-from-home job I have with Riordan Brothers, but it was necessary at this point in my life. Even with my slightly MIA attendance in the AV industry this past year, my move to San Diego has given me an appreciation for all that I was able to build up in my young adult life until this point, and excited for the years to come. I am living the post-college life as I had always dreamed with the support of my friends and family. Quick shout out to the Aloha Church for being able to share this experience with me and helping me continue my faith in God. And for all this, I am grateful. Happy Thanksgiving!”

– Victoria Barela, Junior Programmer at Riordan Brothers Integration

“I’m thankful for my family and the great community of AV professionals I am able to connect with on a daily basis.”

Tim Albright, President of AVNation Media Inc.

“What I’m thankful for is over 20 years in the AV industry, the greatest worldwide tech industry of all! The friends I have made, those I have come to know in the U.S. and worldwide – major influencers, manufacturers that I’ve become close with (including my days in commercial integration sales), and of course the #AVTweeps (I entered the community in 2013) and more recently the #AVhomies which I was a part of creating – I have been very happy to be a part of these great industry insider communities. Of course I’m also thankful for my kids, my daughter who is a lawyer and a guest at times on The AV Life – a podcast which I’m pleased has brought about such notoriety in the AV world. I’m driven by those who lead by example, and those work hard to exceed goals. Happy Thanksgiving!”
