InfoComm 2019 AVIXA Women’s Breakfast Recap

The AVIXA Women’s Council Networking Breakfast, sponsored by TierPM, is a wonderful and inspiring event held every year at InfoComm. At InfoComm 2019, this year’s reports showed that the number of guests exceeded any of the previous years, making it the most attended AVIXA Women’s breakfast to date. For those who attended we thank you for joining us, and for those who were unable to attend, below is our recap of this special event.

Early Thursday, June 13th, morning women and men A/V professionals came together to support women in the audio visual industry. So many people attended that they had to bring in extra tables and chairs and some people even had to stand in the back due to lack of seating.

The breakfast started off with opening remarks from Marika Aquino, Managing Partner at TierPM, welcoming those who came to support the AVIXA Women’s Council. Aquino stated:

“We at TierPM are honored to be the Exclusive Principle Sponsor of the breakfast. This is our third year in a row sponsoring this event, and each year we become more and more inspired by those who provide their insights and motivation to this important initiative.”

Following the opening remarks, Brandy Alverado of Mad Systems and chair of the AVIXA Women’s Council, shared with us her goals and intentions for the AVIXA Women’s Council as it continues to grow. Alvarado spoke to the growing number of women in STEM, now STEAM, and how people in the industry can get more involved.

Last but not least, Christine Schyvinck, President and CEO of Shure Incorporated, presented as the keynote speaker of the breakfast. Schyvinck informed us of the latest stats on women in the industry, showing that there is much room for growth. She also shared her experience as a woman in the audio visual industry and the strategies she has used to get to the position she holds today.

The amount of support that showed at this year’s breakfast was overwhelming large compared to that of last years. It goes to show with enough conversation and awareness, leaps and bounds can be achieved in just a year. A big thank you to AVIXA for hosting this event each year and for all the hard work and efforts put into making this a memorable event.
