The exam costs $150 and will take 80 to 130 minutes depending on which one the applicant chooses. The format is a multiple choice question exam with 55 to 65 questions.  The average salary after passing this certification is $116,000.

Project Management Professional (PMP)

Project Management Institute (PMI) offers this certification to recognize professional with exceptional skill at managing IT projects and IT project teams. Between 2017 and 2027, an estimated 22 million project management jobs will become available. Project managers are responsible for the entire project lifecycle, including gathering the workforce and resources, designing the goals and schedules and ensuring all members complete tasks under strict deadlines.

The exam costs $555 and is multiple choice. Test takers have four hours to answer 200 questions. Prerequisites for this exam include a high school diploma, 7,500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education or a four-year degree, 4,500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education. The average salary expected is $113,000 per year.

AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate

Information Technology professionals who perform a solutions architect role with Amazon Web Services products can obtain this desirable certification. This exam proves a professional can use best practices to build the architecture for big data and cloud solutions. Knowledge of networking, databases and Amazon products and services are required to pass this exam.

The exam costs $150, with 55 to 60 multiple-choice questions, which Amazon allows 80 or 130 minutes to complete, depending on the type chosen. The average salary once passing this exam is $119,000 per year.
